| Teams of five participants will compete
in an investment challenge in a simulated Irish Stock
Exchange. Each team will receive one million Stock Exchange
euro notes to invest as they wish.
The day begins with each team being given a brief on
the twenty shares being traded. With this information
they can plan a strategy of investment. Just before the
exchange opens for trading the morning newspaper is delivered
to each team. The information in the paper will provide
critical information on the economy which should guide
the investment.
The exchange opens, the shares can then be traded. For
half an hour shares can be bought and sold. The share
price will change constantly on most shares. The shares
will be displayed on a big screen and changed electronically.
During the trading the TV news will be aired, this will
give further, up to date information and may contain some
catastrophe’s or great news for some of the shares
this may create a panic to buy or sell.
Trading then closes and the teams have time to take stock
of their position and plan their next moves.
Three sessions of trading will take place throughout
the day representing a day each of trading, three newspaper
and three TV news broadcasts will be presented to the
teams.
The team with the most profit at the end of the days
trading will be the winners of the Stock Exchange investment
challenge.
